My husband loves to cook with recipes. I, on the other hand, like to throw things together. Between the two of us, we’ve got a good thing going. He plans the special, advance-prep-needed meals while I do the standard [healthier] everyday meals. It’s a lovely system.
I asked him in advance to plan a meal for us during Planning Week at my work. This is generally a long, grueling three days of meetings. Straight meetings. By the end of the day, I am spent. So I phoned a friend and asked for help. Our resolve: First night: leftovers, next night: pizza, third night: Honey Dude’s choice.
And boy did I luck out with this one.
Not only did he make mac-n-cheese. He made the creamy mac we served at our wedding, with the help of our lovely mother-daughter friends, Kayla and Adair (follow Kayla’s blog! She has the best recipes on her site!).
